ICT Producer Co-operative
According to Finnish legislation a producer is
liable for the recycling and other waste management of equipment put on the
market by the producer. ICT Producer Co-operative manages recycling,
dissemination of information, registration, and other statutory obligations on
behalf of its members. With other producer organisations ICT Producer
Co-operative has established Elker Ltd as a company providing centralised
services to manage practical affairs.
ICT Producer Co-operative sees to it, in
accordance with its line of business, that the recycling obligations of IT and
telecommunications technology equipment manufacturers and importers are met and
is responsible for the following WEEE classes:
- WEEE 3, IT and telecommunications
equipment, and
- WEEE 4, Consumer equipment.
The board of directors of ICT Producer
Co-operative is responsible for the practical operations of the producer
co-operative in collaboration with Elker Oy. The official meeting of the co-operative, open
to all members of ICT Producer Co-operative, is organised during spring.
ICT Producer Co-operative is one of the founder of service company Elker Ltd. Other founders are SELT Association and FLIP Association. These three producer organisations take care of the collection and recycling of all the 10 WEEE
categories, so by joining ICT Producer Co-operative producer responsibility is
fulfilled for all equipment covered by the WEEE directive for consumer and
business products alike.
The operation of ICT Producer Co-operative and
Elker Ltd is non-profit.
