Producer responsibility in Åland

In Åland the producer responsibility for Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment started on 1 January 2007. Five reception points of WEEE have been opened in Åland. Contact information about waste reception points can be found on Elker Oy's site at www.elker.fi.

Producer organisations SELT Association, ICT Producer Co-operative, and FLIP Association are registered as a producer organisation in Åland. For producer organisations' member companies this means in practice that they need not separately apply for registration in the producer register of Åland's supervisory authority, but the producer responsibility in Åland can be managed as a whole through the Elker's producer organisations.

Elker Oy requests all members of the producer organisations that supply products to Åland's market to notify this to Elker Oy at jenni(a)elker.fi. In the attached (informal) message the producers should, in addition to reporting their company, notify the WEEE categories of the electrical and electronic products they supply to Åland's market and whether the products are B2B or B2C products.

Ingmar Wikman, the managing director of Ålands Renhållning (http://www.alandsrenhallning.aland.fi/), that carries out the collection in Åland, acts as the local agent of the Elker's producer organisations in Åland.
