On 22 May 2023, the Pirkanmaa ELY Centre issued decisions on the admission of Flip ry, ICT-tuottajaosuuskunta -TY and SELT ry to the Producer Register. All producer organisations have had to submit a re-registration application to the Producer Register in summer 2021 due to the revised Waste Act. The recent decisions replace the previous decisions dating back to 2015.
The decisions state that the activities of producer organisations comply with the legislation. On behalf of their producers, the producer organisations will take care of reporting and statistics, as well as organising the collection and recycling of WEEE with their contracted partners. The producer organisations are non-profit making, treat producers fairly and equally and use the funds only for the maintenance of the producer responsibility scheme. Key new obligations include legal requirements relating to the producer organisation’s self-monitoring, payment basis and information.
In the future, producer organisations will regularly and systematically monitor the implementation of the Waste Act in their own activities, including through self-monitoring. Producer organisations will submit monitoring data for the previous year to the authority before the summer holidays and cooperation with the authority will continue through regular meetings.
